Every city has its flavor. If the madness of crowd mesmerizes you in Kolkata then heritage can attract you repeated times in Lucknow. If Rajasthan is for sands, then Karnataka it’s for trees. Perhaps, Bangalore is the only city in the country that has ‘n’ number of trees where n is variably constant. OK, I can sound like a techie and the things may seem geek. But, if you closely look into a city like Bangalore, you are bound to find so many things that you never expected.
While Developers writing codes lines after lines and project managers are wary of deadlines, Bengaluru has a different charm that you can only discover if you wish. For that, you have to roam into the roads, watch how the metro pillars are concreted and follow people’s busy moves in the city. No, it is not well connected by trains like Kolkata or Mumbai, it doesn’t have metro with two minutes’ interval like Delhi neither you will find thousands of autos running in local routes per sharing basis like any other Indian cities. Rather here, a chat seller will accept money using Paytm, groceries will be at your doorsteps and you will be greeted with a x-mas cake on 25th December by your landlord or neighbor. A completely different set of people with a distinct mindset. Yes, average literacy is higher here as well as the cordial level of interaction done by locals. That adds to the brand value of Nammo Bengaluru.
If you are talking on Bangalore and have touched those green trees across the city but have not mentioned the weather, then you have done a crime. The weather might not be the same as it was even 10 years ago but still, it’s a lover’s paradise to stay. The cool and calm environment will force you to stay longer at bed and birds still chirp here to inform that sun is out. My everyday morning here starts with the sweet sounds delivered by a handful of cuckoos and is repeated in the afternoon, almost every day. Oh, the sun doesn’t come out often nor the scorching heat. Rarely a few hot summer days might trouble you but discrete rains at night will make your day. Promise.
It’s beyond to the imagination that Bangalore buses don’t have a cashless payment system, but yes it is. Recently, efforts are made for mobile transaction but as a majority of the people use their car to commute, probably authorities never paid attention to that. AC bus fares are a bit costly too compared to other cities although the overall cost of living is on the higher side due to the reasonable earning of most of the Bengalurueans. Beyond Idli, Dosa, Sambar and filter coffee, now Bengaluru accommodating North Indian & Mughlai cuisines in various parts, but they have to go a long way to match the original taste. Food habits and specific sets of choices might be the factors behind it. Interested to explore things that you never thought? Well, have a look at the India’s Only Heritage Packaging Museum that is housed at this Bangalore. Need more such? Stay Tuned.
The city of Bangalore is a mixture of old and new structures – be it the forts, palaces, temples on one side, and the new age abstract architectures on the other hand. This conglomeration will make you understand what Kempe Gowda initiated thousands of years ago, the same is carried forward with modern flavor. The city of lakes now has fewer numbers due to civil construction aggregation, still has enough to make you happy.
So, what you thought? Everything is on the darker side? No, Never. If you are a Techie, then you will find ample opportunities; still more than Hyderabad, Pune, Noida and Gurgaon. If you are related to construction & real estate, lots of high rises along with metro works can provide you jobs up to your level. Last but not the least, this Startup hub of India will support you in every possible way to see a new dimension of entrepreneurship. I bet. One day my startup will have a Bangalore address, for sure.
You will come across good and kind-hearted people ready to help you every time. Apart from local Kannada language, they will talk to you in Hindi and English unlike places like Chennai. The main city experiences vibration on weekends and the outskirts are ready to provide you relief from stress at the same time. Flyovers will take you everywhere in the fastest way with applied toll tax and you have every opportunity to go for a long drive anytime you want. Hills, seashore, national forests have given Karnataka enough abundance to explore the same as the historical pieces of evidence the state has. A place that has witnessed likes of Adil Shahi to Shahji Bhonsle, from Aurangzeb to Hyder Ali and from Tipu Sultan to Lord Cornwallis. The list goes on…..
If the traffic jam annoys you too much then high oxygen level and lesser pollution index will give you the sigh of relief. If you wanna go to any part via bus, go to Majestic bus terminus only to be stunned as a first time visitor. Same enthralling experience you will have while walking through brigade road, especially at Christmas time. Had a pathetic and sorrow time way back in 1898 when the outbreak of plague took away thousands of lives. Eventually, history repeated this year, 2020.
When this writing is going on, by this time we have already experienced another and perhaps one of the deadliest things of our life; the Corona Virus. A single pandemic forced thousands of people to work from home, millions of people to be jobless and billions of people to accept uncertainty as to the new normal. Shutters are down, school benches are empty and roads seem much wider than actual. Online education has opened a new front same as doorstep delivery from haircut to whiskey. Things probably can never be the same as before and we accepted the present only to have good days in the future. Waiting for that new sun to come out from the darkness of lock down, quarantine, isolation, and all.
This is my Bangalore till date. Oh Yes, wherever I stay; I won’t fail to reach Yelahanka Air Base next time when Bengaluru will host its next Aero Show in some time from now. Are you joining me?
