Navaratri celebration is nothing new to people. While “Nava” specifies ‘Nine” and “Ratri” denotes ‘Night’, it is the celebration of Nine Nights worshipping Devi Durga who conquers the powerful demon Mahishasura. This piece is not on Navaratri, there can be ample space to describe it elaborately in another segment.
This is on worshipping Hanuman Ji during Navaratri. Sounds unusual? Well, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated all over India at a particular time, but you will be happy to know that Hanuman Ji also has enough importance during the Navaratri time in various parts of India.
Let’s check. The ritual to worship Hanuman Ji starts from ‘Pratipada’ (1st Day) and continues till ‘Dashami’ (10th Day); in most of the places, it begins either from ‘Saptami’ (7th) or ‘Ashtami’ (8th). Navaratri is dedicated to Goddess ‘Shakti’ and Hanuman Ji is believed to be the ‘Rudra Avatar’. A section of people believes that Sita asked Hanuman Ji to observe Navaratri in ‘Chaitra’ and ‘Ashwin’ months before leaving Lanka (now Sri Lanka).
While Navaratri is celebrated five times a year in the name of Chaitra Navaratri, Ashadha Navaratri, Sharad Navaratri, Pausha Navaratri, and Magha Navarati, Sharad Navratri is the time for Hanuman Ji to be worshipped along with Durga.
Not much information is found regarding this as people remain busy celebrating Navratri in their style, but there are a few places in India still where Hanuman Ji is worshipped in the time of Navratri. Odisha is such a state where you can find the same.
